Michael Smart joined FinDev Canada in 2025 as a Director & Chief Representative, Indo-Pacific based in Singapore. He is responsible for supporting the establishment of FinDev Canada's first international branch and for helping to grow FinDev Canada's business in the region. 

Michael has extensive experience in the Indo-Pacific region, having helped set up the first standalone branch outside of Canada for Export Development Canada "EDC" in 2017 in Singapore. Since that time, he has led the development of EDC's Indo-Pacific expansion strategy and helped build their loan portfolio in Asia. Prior to Singapore, he was based in Ottawa and Vancouver focused on structured, asset and corporate financing across a variety of sectors including aviation, energy and infrastructure. Michael has a Bachelor of Commerce from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada and a Master of Business Administration from Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada.
