Info Source: Sources of Government and Employee Information provides information about the functions, programs, activities and related information holdings of government institutions subject to the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act. It provides individuals and employees of the government (current and former) with relevant information to access personal information about them held by government institutions subject to the Privacy Act and to exercise their rights under the Privacy Act.
The Introduction and an index of institutions subject to the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act are available centrally.
The Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act assign overall responsibility to the President of Treasury Board (as the designated Minister) for the government-wide administration of the legislation.
General Information about FinDev Canada
Background
FinDev Canada is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Export Development Canada. It was incorporated in 2017 under the Canada Business Corporations Act. In that capacity, FinDev Canada is accountable to Parliament through the Minister for International Trade.
FinDev Canada is governed by a Board of Directors whose representatives are primarily from the private sector. The Board's responsibility is to supervise the direction and management of FinDev Canada and oversee our strategic direction. Board members are appointed by its sole shareholder.
Responsibilities
FinDev Canada's mandate is to provide, directly or indirectly, development financing and other forms of development support in a manner that is consistent with Canada’s international development priorities. Our mandate is spelled out in the Export Development Act. Under the Financial Administration Act, we are required to submit an annual Corporate Plan, which sets our performance measures and objectives, an Annual Report, which reports on our performance against these objectives, and an operating budget. We adhere to the guidelines and regulations concerning the management and governance of Crown corporations set by the Treasury Board Secretariat of the Government of Canada.
FinDev Canada’s primary objective is to achieve meaningful and demonstrable development impact by contributing to sustainable development and reducing poverty. It will do so by focusing its action on three main themes: economic development through job creation, gender equality, and climate and nature adaptation and mitigation.

Communications Services involve activities undertaken to ensure that Government of Canada communications are effectively managed, well-coordinated and responsive to the diverse information needs of the public. The communications management function ensures that the public, internal or external, receives government information, and that the views and concerns of the public are taken into account in the planning, management and evaluation of policies, programs, services and initiatives.

Independent Accountability Mechanism Personal Information Bank
Description: This bank describes information related to complaints filed with FinDev Canada’s Independent Accountability Mechanism (IAM) by people who believe they have experienced, or are likely to experience, adverse environmental or social effects resulting from FinDev Canada-financed projects. Personal information may include names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and other personal details or accounts relevant to the complaints.
Class of individuals: Individuals who file complaints with the IAM, their authorized representatives, witnesses, and other stakeholders named in the complaints or involved in the processing of complaints.
Purpose: The information is used to respond, process, investigate, and resolve complaints filed with the IAM.
Consistent uses: The information may be shared with authorized external consultants or agents who assist in carrying out IAM functions. Depersonalized information, and in rare cases identifiable information, may be made available on the IAM’s public complaints register. The information may be used in IAM evaluation and planning activities.
Retention and disposal standards: Personal information will be retained for at least two years following its last use for an administrative purpose.

Classes of Personal Information
In the course of conducting the programs and activities of FinDev Canada, categories of personal information not used for administrative purposes may be accumulated. Such personal information includes, among other things, general biographies of individuals in relation to FinDev Canada's program services and employee profile information posted on FinDev Canada’s internal electronic collaboration network. This form of personal information is retrievable if specifics are provided concerning transactions filed e.g. names of companies, countries and projects, rather than by name of individual or other personal identifier.
Other information provided by or about individuals may also be found in corporate record holdings such as information services, and accounts payable. This class of personal information is retrievable only if the requester identifies, in sufficient detail, the subject of the information that they wish to access. The retention periods are controlled by the record schedules of the general subject files in which they are stored.
