Marie Claire Duguay
Marie Claire Duguay is the Director of the Development Impact team at FinDev Canada, where she leads the integration of impact considerations across the investment lifecycle to ensure that the organization’s activities deliver measurable and meaningful development outcomes. She oversees the implementation of frameworks, tools, and processes that embed impact into investment decisions, with a focus on market development, gender equality, and climate and nature action.
Prior to joining FinDev Canada, Marie Claire built more than 16 years’ experience in the financial sector, including over a decade in senior management roles at Développement international Desjardins. She worked across Latin America, Africa, and the Indo-Pacific, supporting technical assistance and investment initiatives to strengthen financial institutions.
She previously served as Program Director for West Africa, leading programs that expanded access to finance for farmers, MSMEs, and women-owned MSMEs, and designing instruments such as guarantee funds to support women’s economic empowerment and climate resilience. Earlier in her career, she supported the establishment of entrepreneur-focused financial institutions in Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda, Tunisia, and Panama.
She holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs from Sciences Po Paris and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from HEC Montréal.
