New Independent Accountability Mechanism Policy and Procedures – Stakeholder Feedback Now Closed

FinDev Canada’s Board of Directors formalized the Independent Accountability Mechanism (IAM) on September 29, 2021 with the appointment of a Chief IAM Officer. The IAM is an independent function, governed outside of FinDev Canada’s financing operations and Management, with the Chief IAM Officer reporting directly to the Board of Directors.

Following the appointment, IAM Policy and Procedures were drafted based on extensive stakeholder consultations which included discussions with Export Development Canada (FinDev Canada’s parent company), Independent Accountability Mechanisms, civil society organizations and FinDev Canada clients.

FinDev Canada’s IAM, Board of Directors, management and staff are committed to establishing a process that supports an independent and impartial review of complaints and enables complainants to seek redress and remedy through this process. Comments from our stakeholders will help strengthen the IAM function and encourage policy alignment with stakeholder expectations and good practices, while considering a broad range of perspectives and experiences.

Providing Feedback

The feedback period is now closed. A summary of the feedback and the IAM response can be viewed here.

The IAM program is expected to officially launch in early 2023 at which time the final IAM Policy and Procedure will be made available.
