FinDev Canada joined 14 Development Finance Institutions and the European Investment Bank in the launch of the Gender Finance Collaborative, a group that will coordinate efforts towards gender-smart investing.

The Collaborative, hosted by the British CDC Group, will seek joint deal opportunities focused on women’s economic empowerment. They will also share case studies, best practices, support and resources to make gender-lens investing an industry standard.

The DFIs that joined the group along with FinDev Canada are BIO-Invest, CDC Group, COFIDES, DEG, Finnfund, FMO, IFU, Norfund, SIFEM, OeEB, PROPARCO, Swedfund and OPIC.

A Joint Commitment Statement for the Collaborative was signed and announced during the Gender-Smart Investing Summit in London.

During the G7 Summit hosted in Canada last July, FinDev Canada and some members of the Collaborative announced the 2X Challenge, a commitment to raise US $3 billion towards businesses that benefit women as entrepreneurs, leaders, employees and consumers of products and services that enhance their participation in the economy and their quality of life.
